The challenges of online dating
SusanT | Mar 05, 2010 | Comments 1
I hosted my first Flourish Over 50 event recently, and one of the hot topics of discussion was “dating”–speed dating, online dating, E-Harmony, match.com–and all the frustrations that go along with trying to find a companion when you’re single over 50. Why is it so hard to find a great man to spend time with, someone who is not creepy or totally boring?
In her blog charting her “quest for hotness,” Miss T relates the experience she had with online dating. Here’s how she begins:
Single for less than a year after a very long-term relationship, I find myself in a variety of new situations. Most of the time, I’m not entirely sure how to navigate them.
Finding myself unable to engage in casual relationships (despite my best efforts, my feelings always got in the way), I thought I’d try the online dating scene since, you know, everyone there has a mutual goal, right?
Things went (horribly!) awry in less than two weeks.
No matter what your age, if you’re a single gal looking for companionship, you can relate to Veronica’s story here. Hot in six months.
And if you’ve been successful, give her some encouragement!

Susan,
Thanks for the blogger buzz! It’s great to know that women of all ages identify with my issues (or is it? perhaps I had hoped that sooner or later things wouldn’t be so complicated!). Just wanted to clarify one thing – Veronica is someone who commented on the post, not me. I’m just Miss T!
Keep fighting the good fight!
