Let’s Form an Alliance

An alliance can be defined as “a connection based on kinship or common interest; a bond or tie.” That’s what I’m feeling with this new group of women I joined a while back, those over 50 who are feeling a new freedom to explore, learn and connect. Every where I go, I am meeting women who are wanting to make new friendships and nurture the old ones, who want to share their past journeys as they embark on new ones, and who are encouraging and enlightening. That’s why I’ve decided to focus on providing a place for us to join together to share insights on health & fitness, home & garden, career changes, financial planning, technology, product & restaurant reviews, travel, style and serving others. I’m keeping it all in Austin for now as I test the waters, hoping to get people who are currently blogging to share their posts, or who have special talents in various interest areas to give tips that we can use every day. I’m developing a social network via Ning, and even an interactive website. I think it would even be fun to actually bring “fabulous women over 50″ from all over Austin together for fun events! I am energized by the new friends I am making, and I know you will be, too.
All this from someone who only began blogging ten days ago, tweeting last week, and learning about Ning yesterday. Just goes to prove that we can still keep up with the best of them, no matter what our age.

Susan, this is very exciting! Looking forward to all the possibilities of connecting with these wonderful women that have so much to share!
I would love to join this is just the second thing I have read. I have been at this threshold for so long. I am 64 and love life wanted to blog, twitter and you have in this short time given me hope. I have been going to a women’s group that is great about being your authentic self except all are in their early 40’s and 30’s and younger and I am just not where they are. I have been in relationship for 30 years and before that a widow, my children are in their 40’s and have their own world my grandchildren. I thank Ms. Jenkins for forwarding this site.
